I've read the story I have to analyse. It is "The Necklace" written by Guy de Maupassant. To tell the truth, I expected it to be more interesting and intriguing, with some family mystery that was hiden for years and then suddenly was reveald, but the plot was quite simple and I easily guessed about the ending of the story. So, not bad story, but nothing exciting.
But still"The Necklace" is a short story that gives an important moral. You should always be grateful for what you have, as things can always be worse.
Natasha, even though you've found this story to be not so exciting that you've expected, I'm sure that you'll cope with text analysis in the best way you can!
ОтветитьУдалитьGood luck and inspiration!
Natasha, think about the hardships the lady and her family had to overcome to find out the truth at the end! Isn't it a real tragedy to suffer the whole life to pay back the debt. Think about the husband. What would you do if you were him?
ОтветитьУдалитьI’m sorry that I haven’t answered for so long.
УдалитьWell, speaking of the main characters and their life, of course I am in sympathy with them. But in fact they created their troubles themselves. Mathilde wanted to be the best among rich people, in the surrounding which she could never enter. To my mind, she even didn’t appreciate her husband’s efforts to make her happy. She forgot a very simple fact that one can't jump higher than his head. She tried, but failed. If I were her husband, for sure I would never leave Mathilde, but help her, as her husband actually did. But I also would never let her to manipulate me.
